You may not know it, but every two years, Bojangles’ hosts a convention for our dedicated franchisees and company leaders. We conveniently turned the big 4-0 this year, so we all gathered to celebrate the birthday, shout-out our successes, discuss the future of the business, and learn from each other.
Because Bojangles’ was founded in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Queen City became home to everyone for the week.
To kick things off, Mayor Jennifer Roberts declared June 13, 2017 as Bojangles’ Day in this great city (we have the proclamation to prove it). See more here.
And the party continued from there. We mingled, laughed, and listened to team members present in break-out sessions. We had the pleasure of listening to Clebe McClary‘s keynote on overcoming adversity and Jason Dorsey‘s keynote on millennials. And we interacted with 178 of our valued vendors, who we have the pleasure of doing business with daily, at our huge vendor show.
On Tuesday night, things got real with a special performance by Grammy award-winning band NEEDTOBREATHE. Needless to say, they completely blew us away (and even confessed that they grew up on Bojangles’, y’all.)
Many of our franchisees and operators came from out of town, so on Wednesday, we gave them a play-day to explore the QC. Families rafted at the U.S. National Whitewater Center, screamed on ‘coasters at Carowinds, and enjoyed some quiet time on the golf course.
That night, we closed out the festivities with a bang. Our surprise guest of the night was none other than #88 for the Carolina Panthers, Greg Olsen. And his introduction was nothing short of legendary. You’ll want to take a look at this.
Following a great talk with Mr. Olsen, we turned our attention the top 10 finalists of our ShowBo competition. The grand prize winner took home $15,000 for his hard work and dedication to our brand. Score!
When all was said and done, our guests left with full hearts and some new swag, including a 40th anniversary coffee table book full of four decades of memories.
We’re already pumped about our next convention in 2019. Until then, we’ll fondly remember our 40th birthday party as one of the best.
