Basketball is cool, but we happen to be really into biscuits.
Have you voted in this year’s Biscuit Bracketology? Vote for your favorite biscuit in each match-up, and you’ll be entered to win a Bojangles-branded Xbox One X.
To kick off this year’s bracket, we asked three Bojangles loyalists to give us their picks. Read on to see what Bojangles CEO Jose Armario, Bojangles fan and NBA star A’ja Wilson, and Bojangles Champion JZ Flair had to say.
Cajun Filet Biscuit® vs. Cinnamon Biscuit
Jose Armario: I love the Cinnamon Biscuit with a cup of coffee in the afternoon, but I have to pick the Cajun Filet here. It’s iconic and what Bojangles’ is known for.
A’ja Wilson: Okay, this is tough. Off the bat we have Cajun Filet and Cinnamon!? Geez! I gotta go Cajun. Sorry Cinnamon.
JZ Flair: The sad thing about this match is that these are both top contenders for the 2019 championship, but this is just no contest. The perfectly seasoned and crispy Cajun Filet Biscuit® is just going to dominate this match.
Bo-Berry Biscuit® vs. Pork Chop Griller
JA: I’m going with Pork Chop Griller for the upset here. I love the flavor of the Pork Chop Griller and am looking forward to it this fall.
AW: Oh, Bo-Berry. Duh. Wouldn’t have it any other way.
JZ: The 2nd match in this contest is the Bo-Berry Dessert Biscuit and Pork Chop Griller. The Bo-Berry is an ever popular and ever loved delicious follow up to the Cajun Filet. The Pork Chop Griller isn’t one we should sleep on though. The Griller is new to the game and already has a cult following. The delicious white meat on that perfect biscuit makes a lot of people’s mornings and should be seen as a threat to the championship this year. Even though I see the Bo-Berry as the winner, the Griller is a sleeper and could shock us all with a win in this first round.
Country Ham Biscuit vs. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit
JA: Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. It’s a classic.
AW: I gotta go with Bacon, Egg, and Cheese.
JZ: If someone would have asked me last year at this time which biscuit I would vote for it would have been for the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese. This is my 2nd choice in biscuits as far a flavor and favorites. Sadly, last year, I lost my Granny Z, the lady whose FAVORITE meal was a Country Ham Biscuit and a sweet tea. So for that I am pulling for the Country Ham to go all the way and hopefully have an ICONIC match with the Cajun Filet!
Steak Biscuit vs Sausage Biscuit
JA: I’m picking Sausage here but with the caveat that it comes with some mustard.
AW: Steak is always good.
JZ: These are two of the mainstays and dependable go to biscuits. Sadly I don’t see either of these biscuits going to the finals, but I do see the winner of this match giving their competitor a run for their money. The Steak Biscuit is getting my vote.
Egg Bo vs Cheddar Bo®
JA: I haven’t had the pleasure of trying the Egg Bo, so I’m picking the Cheddar Bo. I get one every time I’m in Raleigh.
JZ: The heart-melter Cheddar Bo and the taste bud-pleasing Egg Bo are North Carolina favorites. The Egg Bo with its Canadian bacon and egg and cheese is absolutely delicious, but it just doesn’t hold up to the perfectly melted Cheddar Bo.
Smoked Sausage vs Fried Bologna
JA: Smoked Sausage and add egg and cheese!
AW: This is tough! I’m gonna go with Smoked Sausage.
JZ: The Smoked Sausage is great variant on the Sausage Biscuit and only offered in limited locations. I just see it falling behind and losing to the Bologna Biscuit with its thick cut and perfectly fried slice on a delicious biscuit.
Cajun Filet Biscuit® with Egg and Cheese vs. Mac and Cheese Biscuit
JA: I’m not eating a Mac and Cheese Biscuit.
AW: I gotta go Cajun.
JZ: I am pulling for the Mac and Cheese Biscuit simply because I don’t believe B.E.D. (Biscuit Enhancing Devices) should be allowed in this game. A Cajun Filet can stand on its on and doesn’t need the B.E.D.s to win. Also, who doesn’t love a reason to eat more Mac and Cheese?!
Chicken Supremes® Biscuit vs Sausage on a Bo-Berry Biscuit®
JA: I did not think that this would be good, but now that I’ve tried it, I have to take Sausage on a Bo-Berry Biscuit®. And extra napkins!
AW: Chicken Supremes® Biscuit might not be too bad!
JZ: The Chicken Supremes® Biscuit and the Sausage Bo-Berry are two customs that deserve a shot at the championship. Even though I feel the Chicken Supremes® is a twist on the 1st seed Cajun Filet, it’s hard to argue that the real secret to its awesomeness is the fact that when you order the Supremes Dinner and you make this delightful delicious biscuit, you know you got TWO more Supremes in your box just waiting for you. Even though the sweet meeting heat and the salty and sweet Sausage on a Bo-Berry is a great treat, it just can’t beat knowing you got at least one or two more Supremes in your box. The winner here has got to be the Chicken Supremes® Biscuit.
