How much does the South love biscuits? So much that we made National Buttermilk Biscuit Day a holiday. The official date is May 14, but at Bojangles, we celebrate the savory-sweet Southern staple year-round.
Across our 800+ store footprint, Bojangles boasts 4,500 certified biscuit makers who have honed our intricate 49-step process that creates the flaky goodness that draws legions of fans. But each April, we narrow it down to the best of the best for our annual Biscuit Maker Challenge.
Throughout a multi-week elimination process, we identify the top 12 biscuit makers who exemplify the not only the technical mastery of biscuit making, but also the passion required to create our signature menu item. These chosen few assemble to Bojangles headquarters for a head-to-head bake-off to see who will be crowned the Biscuit Maker Champion.
New this year, we added the Bryce Young Spirit Award (judged and presented by Carolina Panthers’ QB Bryce Young). This year’s recipient was Mary Thompson, a recent nursing school graduate who says the love she pours into her biscuits is what makes them so great. Because like Mary said: Without that special ingredient, what’s the point?
