For Cathy Chase, Bojangles’ newly promoted Chief People Officer, the way we do things matters just as much as what we do. “How we do things really matters to people…If you can help them see a path forward and see the lesson in what they’re experiencing, it’s a powerful moment,” she says. That belief guides her every day as she works with leaders across the company – from the field to the Support Center – to help make better people-related decisions and shape the future of Bojangles.
Cathy’s journey started in her hometown of Unity, Maine – a small community that taught her the value of connection. After a decade in retail operations at Hanes Brands, she pivoted to HR, driven by a desire to support people more directly. Her career has been marked by bold professional and geographical moves – from retail to energy, from Raleigh to Charlotte – all in pursuit of growth, challenge and deeper self-understanding. “Sometimes you’ve got to take what might appear to be an unusual move to continue to really find your groove and learn more about yourself,” she reflects.
Now at Bojangles, Cathy is focused on helping us grow by modernizing systems and exploring new technologies that make people-related processes more efficient and impactful. One initiative she’s especially excited about is automating manual tasks to free up time and energy so her team members can focus on what they do best. As we evolve along with other QSR brands, this shift will not only support the business but also empower individuals to contribute their strengths in meaningful ways.
Cathy sees this moment in Bojangles’ journey as a turning point. “I’m seeing everybody throughout the organization, from the field to here in the Support Center, step up to the moment that we’re in right now. And it’s a very proud moment,” she says.
What makes Bojangles truly special to her is the authenticity and care people show for one another; something she believes sets the company apart. “It’s powerful to find out that people here care so much for each other.” That sense of connection and community is what fuels Cathy’s passion for her work and her commitment to helping every team member grow into their best self. That’s how you lead with heart and purpose.
